“The worm hole.......Oka Aawa.”
Oka closes her eyes, I can see she is doing her best to come to terms with what seems like a death sentence. The worm hole was by far the least likely for survival but if the theory was true, then Oka would be further away from the planet than anyone, and should the plague spread, she would be least likely to feel the aftermath.
“So it's decided,” Oz says, “Gaiya how long will it take to prep each ship with the seed and proper fuel?”
Gaiya takes a few seconds to respond, way longer than I have ever seen her take. I try not to look across at Oka while Gaiya processes. We all know it's because Gaiya cannot fully calculate the correct amount of energy it takes to get through the worm hole. It's all guess work at this point.
Gaiya finally responds. “Three hours for complete preparation”
Isic quickly stands up and without looking at anyone, he takes a step to his left away from his chair, turns around and walks out the door. It was oddly apathetic, even for him.
Oka stares at the chair where Yaer used to sit. Yaer was a mentor to Oka, he mentored all of us but he and Oka had a special connection. It’s strange when a conversation ends between people who have no desire to move on, but nothing left to discuss, . There is a void in the room waiting to be filled with words that do not exist, but Oz finds words to compensate.
